The LA Finish Collection celebrates the relationship between material, use, and the art of time’s touch.
The journey
Each piece begins its journey at Meljac’s atelier outside of Paris, where products are manufactured by dedicated artisans to the exacting standards and savoir-faire that have made Meljac a leader in luxury electrical hardware for thirty years.
The raw brass cover plates travel to Los Angeles where they are transformed using time-honored techniques to create rich finishes that underscore a touch-of-hand. Each finish in the collection is offered as an unlacquered, living finish designed to age gracefully and develop unique variations over time.
Like the sun-warmed patina on historic architecture or the soft wear on well-loved objects, each finish tells a story unique to its surroundings—an enduring continuation of the product’s journey.

Natural Brass
(NB-LA-W-1)
Showcasing the inherent warmth of raw metal, Natural Brass presents an unplated surface that is lightly polished with a hint of patination—evoking the warmth of a golden-hour light. Non-directional burnishing creates subtle texture before a thin coat of wax is applied, providing a soft sheen. This sets the foundation for graceful aging. Natural Brass welcomes interaction: touch, air, and time will make the plate surface more matte, with its initial brightness evolving into a darker, amber-toned patina.

Light Pewter

Built on raw brass plated in dull nickel, Light Pewter offers a study in understated elegance. Its unpolished matte surface reveals whispers of darker undertones beneath a misty silver appearance, adding depth and character. Where Natural Brass celebrates warmth, Light Pewter embraces the cool softness of a coastal fog. Environmental exposure will darken the plate’s appearance—enhancing complexity without compromising its refined restraint.

Dark Pewter

With nickel plating and a rich patina, Dark Pewter boasts a tone that hovers between black and gray, reminiscent of dark shale. The lightly textured, matte surface invites a balance of shadow and light characteristic of a city landscape. As it wears, these variations between light and dark will further emerge—creating additional depth and dimension. The finish gradually intensifies over time, enhancing its sophisticated presence.

Light Nickel
(LN-LA-W-1)
The first of the collection’s reflective finishes, Light Nickel balances brightness with subtle dimension. Hand burnishing of the nickel base creates gentle variations in its reflectivity, while a light patina adds shadow and definition. This finish captures the interplay of sunlight on architectural surfaces—bright yet nuanced. Time and touch will temper its initial brilliance, introducing an elevated veil of maturity.

Dark Nickel
(NB-LA-W-1)
The most dynamic member of the collection, Dark Nickel features a nickel base with pronounced patina work. Its reflective quality creates an almost liquid appearance that shifts dramatically with changing light conditions. Initially offering bold visual impact with its near-obsidian depth, this finish will develop the most striking evolution—gradually revealing complex iridescent highlights against increasingly shadowed recesses.

In the spirit of connection and community, a portion of all profits from the LA Finish Collection will be donated to Habitat for Humanity’s ReBUILD LA efforts to support affected families of the recent fires lacking adequate resources to reconstruct their homes.
